The Orange Star Story
Celebrating 31 years helping others bring their visions to life
Founded in 1993 by Jodi Hersh, Orange Star has established a reputation for providing high quality creative solutions to a very diverse clientele ranging from non-profits, to small businesses to mega corps to rock stars. Our creative skills apply to strategy, branding, print and the web. Our experience is broad and includes branding, website design & development, logo & corp. identity, annual reports, brochures, posters, music CD packaging, tour/concert merchandise, event graphics, signage, desktop and mobile applications and more.
For more than 3 decades, I’ve been helping clients with everything from logos, print materials, and building-sized graphics, to websites, mobile apps, music cds, swag, trade show displays, and more. I’ve worked with everyone from solopreneurs and small businesses to Fortune 500 companies, indie musicians and even a few rock stars.
A good designer is one part business consultant/strategist, one part designer, one part technologist, one part programmer, one part therapist, one part business person… that’s a lot of parts, so it’s important that your designer is a good fit for you and your organization.
Since launching Orange Star Design, I have learned to put my skills and experience to work for my clients. My studio is small by design and more agile and affordable than a big agency. I care about quality. I personally manage and design all of Orange Star’s client projects. I have a network of experienced strategic partners I work with to create an all-star project team fit for your needs.
I’m interested in doing great work with exceptional people. If you are too, let’s talk!
“I am a smartist. I took my childhood urge to make things and turned it into a thriving career as a designer and artist.”
Jodi’s passion for art dictates her attitude toward life — her devotion to her work, her thriving and award-winning studio. Jodi has over 30 years of experience and earned her BFA in graphic design and photography from the University of Michigan School of Art & Design.
After graduating, Jodi returned to her hometown of Miami where she worked as part of team designing signage and graphics for Universal Studios and Royal Caribbean Cruise Lines among others. Jodi broadened her range of experience by art directing at a printing company where she gained valuable working knowledge of developing technologies and processes.
Since starting Orange Star in 1993, Jodi has worked on and led projects for clients as large as AIG, ALLTEL, Centers for Disease Control (CDC), The American Cancer Society, Georgia Tech, Best Buy, IHG, and Styx — and as varied as environmental graphics, logos & corp. identities, concert/tour merchandise, event graphics, publications, interactive new media and complex database driven websites.
Jodi has been a voting member of the Recording Academy (The Grammys) and a member of the Adobe Creative Advisory Panel. In addition, Jodi is an avid photographer and mixed-media artist. When not in her studio, she can usually be found being walked by her giant dogs.
In 2013, she founded and launched a “pet project” — Live Love Dogs: Pawsitively fetching sWAG for dog-loving humans and their furry friends. And in late 2018, she launched the Content Creators Planner with Kim Doyal.
