Protect your visitors’ privacy with https encryption
Securing your WordPress site is imperative. It builds customer confidence and trust, and can improve your site’s search rankings. To protect site visitors from eavesdroppers, it is now recommended that all sites use https to protect your visitors’ privacy. Sites with HTTPS also get HTTP/2, which can improve site performance and boost search engine rankings.
Web encryption provides more than security
Using SSL/TLS certificates, your site visitors (i.e., their browsers) can validate that they are connected to your web server—and not an imposter’s server. In addition, certificates help your visitors establish an HTTPS connection, so information exchanged between your visitors and your web server is encrypted.
Google has also announced HTTPS is used as a ranking signal in search results, with HTTPS-enabled sites ranked above their plaintext counterparts.
Let’s Encrypt
Let’s Encrypt is a certificate authority who is making HTTPS ubiquitous by providing free, automated SSL/TLS certificates. By enabling HTTPS with free Let’s Encrypt certificates, you can also expect better Google search engine rankings, since HTTPS is used as a ranking signal.
