I FORGOT my laptop and a shot of whiskey

I had Friday all planned. (You know what they say about plans…)

We left after work on Thursday to spend Labor Day weekend in Blue Ridge with our RV. The plan was for both of us to work from our campsite Friday and then enjoy the long weekend…

An hour and a half into the two-hour drive, it hit me.

My computer bag was at home! 😱

Meanwhile, back in Decatur…

Doh! What a jackass. 🫏

I could have fixed it. My friend Jane offered to meet me halfway with it the next morning. But I asked myself a simple question: was it worth it?

The answer was no. I decided to read, relax and paint instead.

Of course, Friday brought a red alert. 🚨 A client’s e-commerce site had an urgent problem. Thankfully Nan brought her Mac as well as her work PC (I am PC stupid) and with Claude’s help, I was able to fix it. Phew!

Then I closed the laptop and went back to my weekend.

On Saturday we met an actual jackass. His name is Whiskey, and he was visiting the farm next door to the RV park.

My shot of Whiskey.

Next time something goes sideways, before you scramble to fix it, ask: Is it worth it? Most of the time, what really matters still gets done. The rest can wait.

It worked out anyway.

Want to see the whole trip, donkey included?
