The Problem with Fancy Features

If you want to create a successful product (or service), you need to focus on solving real problems. Too often, businesses try to add in fancy features that don’t really serve a purpose.

Steve Jobs famously said “Innovation is not about saying yes to everything. It’s about saying no to all but the most crucial features.”

Not all features are created equal. Instead of adding in lots of bells and whistles, focus on creating something that is simple and easy to use. Solve the problems that your customers are facing, and you’ll be much more likely to be successful.

And rather than talking about your features, spin them as benefits that compel action. Tell us what difference they will make to US?

When you’re focused on solving problems, it’s easy to come up with benefits that will compel people to buy your product. They can see that your product will make their lives easier and they’ll be more likely to take action.
