On this day in 1991, the World Wide Web opened to the public and everything changed.

If you’re like me, you probably can’t imagine living without the internet. It’s hard to believe that it’s only been around for a little over 25 years!

The first website was created by Tim Berners-Lee in 1991 and since then, things have exploded. There are now over 1.93 billion websites online (as of Mar 21, 2022)!

Which reminds me, I was checking out your website the other day…

Fewer words cause more dread in the hearts and minds of many small business owners. Your website should be one of if not THE most powerful marketing tool you have. So, I’m curious to know — is your website helping or hurting your business?

I could write an entire book about website best practices, but for our purposes here, we’ll just focus on some basics. Review your website and consider:

  • Is your messaging simple and clear? (what you do, for whom, and why it matters)
  • Do you have a compelling offer with a specific call-to-action?
  • Is it easy and clear how to buy from you?
  • Is your contact info easily found?
  • Do you feature social proof and other signals of authority? (testimonials, as seen on, certifications, etc)
  • Does your site perform well for both mobile and desktop?

These are simple fixes that do not require a lot of technical skill. Simply make sure your website is up-to-date, has clear messaging, a compelling offer, and an easy purchase flow and you’ll be well on your way.

Something I’d also like to point out is that often, we get tired of our own things… saying the same things, looking at the same things, etc. But that doesn’t mean it is time for a refresh. Many are seeing/reading/hearing you and your stuff for the first time. Put your time and effort into the most essential things
